What are the advantages of a twin gear juicer? You may have seen the expression used on some models, and heard people mention it. What is it – and is it worth spending extra money on?
For a start, if you are reading this you are probably interested in improving your health. So you probably know that fresh fruit and vegetable juices are a fantastic way to cleanse and invigorate your body. Drinking fresh juice is quite possibly the best way to boost your intake of essential vitamins and nutrients, the natural way.
A twin gear juicer is juicing machine that works by rolling two crushing surfaces, or gears, together. When you put your ingredient into one of these machines they are crushed as they are pulled in between these rollers – sort of like on of those old fashioned washing mangles!
The big difference between this system and regular juicers is that juice is extracted by actually squeezing it out of the raw ingredients, rather than just shredding everything up and allowing the liquid to drain out. The result? More liquid is extracted from even the hardest, toughest ingredients, and the juice you get is far richer in vitamins and nutrients.
Another big advantage of a twin gear juicer is that you will be able to make wheat grass juice – something most juicer machines cannot do, and you would otherwise need to buy a separate juicer for.
Probably the most popular twin gear juicers are the Angel Juicer (big, expensive but very powerful) and the Greenstar Greenpower juicers. While Angel certainly are the premium manufacturer (they like to refer to their machines as the Roll-Royce of juicers!) they are not cheap. Greenstar make high quality products also, and while the Greenpower range is finished in plastic rather than the gleaming stainless steel of the Angel, it does strike a better compromise between cost and quality.
If you can spare the extra money for a twin gear juicer machine it is well worth it for better juice extraction, greater versatility, and all round faster juicing.
